Built by a Pilot
Skyboard started as a personal project to have a quick visual reference for local weather conditions. As a pilot, checking METAR data is part of every preflight routine. I wanted something that would let me glance at my wall and instantly know the conditions at nearby airports. What started as a weekend project turned into something I'm excited to share with the aviation community.

What is Skyboard?
Skyboard is a custom LED METAR display built on top of a printed VFR sectional chart. LEDs at each airport location show real-time flight category colors.
Do I need to be technical to build one?
No technical skills are needed. If you can use a hammer, screwdriver, and adhesive tape, you have all the skills necessary to put your Skyboard kit together.
What airports are supported?
Any airport with METAR weather reporting. For airports without METAR, we can approximate conditions using airport location data, high-confidence government weather forecasts, and real-time weather sources.
How often does the weather update?
Skyboard checks for weather every 15 minutes by default, but this is configurable on the device.
How do I configure my device?
Your device connects to your home Wi-Fi and is configured via an intuitive web-based interface to set up your airports and weather settings.
Do I get access to the Map Designer?
Yes! With a pre-order or purchase, you get full access to our METAR Map Designer tool. Waitlist members may request early access.
